Happy Halloween!

Back at you with a special Halloween bonus post today!

For those of you who don't know, I subscribe to a monthly craft kit called Paper Pumpkin. Each month I receive a kit filled with everything I need for a fun papercraft project! September's box was all the supplies needed for spooktacular Halloween treats. I put them together this weekend and sent them off to my son's class for their Halloween party today. I also used some of the supplies from the box to create a mixed media page for our album.

Happy Halloween Mixed Media Page

This year my son asked to make a jack-o-lantern so this page commemorates him working on his first pumpkin!

Here are some in progress shots of the page:

Happy Halloween Mixed Media Page

The background of the page above I used the negative space from the  Paper Pumpkin  die cuts and sponged on the bats, pumpkins and ghosts then added the words and spiders from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set. Then I used stampin spritzers filled with reinker and alcohol to spray the page.

For the next layer I cut apart some of the Paper Pumpkin treat bags and stuck them on the page. Then I added the pictures, journaling and die cut words and images from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

I loved this page so much, I am making it my goal to make a mixed media page from each kit I receive! You can learn more about Paper Pumpkin and subscribe here.

My other Halloween project this year was pocket letters for some kiddos in my life. I made this quick & simple pocket letters using Stampin' Up's Toil & Trouble suite.

Welcome to another inspire.create challenge! This week's challenge is a theme challenge.

thank you

As some of you may know I have been changing things up here and shifting my focus to mixed media memory keeping.  In light of that my ICC design team submissions will now be scrapbook pages!

I have to admit I read the theme wrong, I had it in my head as "thank you" which, in my mind made the theme for this week  a little tricky. However, the theme is actually "Thankful" which opens up a whole other array of pages I could have done. In any case,  I think I pulled it off....

This lovely floral mixed media page I made to frame a picture of my mom with my son and my niece. My mom is a fabulous, grandmother or "Mia" as we call her, so I made a page to thank and commemorate her.  My son was used to having her full attention all the time and in this picture he is adjusting to having to share her with his cousin. It was good practice for when his sister would be born a year and a half later!

For my lovely floral page I used the Lovely Floral embossing folder and sponged on ink with wet sponge daubers. I must really be feeling fall over here as you can tell from the colours!

How To:

  • Emboss 9 pieces of shimmery white cardstock with  Stampin' Up!'s Lovely Floral folder

  • Use wet sponge daubers to sponge on colour to each flower using Merry Merlot, Cajun Craze and Mango Melody reinkers. I put my reinkers on a glass media mat but 3 acrylic blocks work just as well. I also sponged on some shimmery Frost White ink

  • Fussy cut each embossed image

  • Die cut gold foil using the top of the floral die from Stampin' Up!'s  Sunshine Wishes Thinlits

  • Use simple scored scoring tool to score 12 x 12 Merry Merlot cardstock at each 1/2 inch

  • Adhere wood textures 6 x 6 sheet to center of Merry Merlot 12 x 12 background

  • Adhere gold and white striped treat bag to left side of 12 x 12

  • Use bowl to trace circle on centre of page ( super technical I know ;-) ) .

  • Adhere square photo to gold foil background then adhere to centre of circle

  • Arrange and adhere flowers and gold die cuts around circle.

  • Tie bow with burlap trim and adhere to wreath
