Stamping Sunday blog hop

Hi! Thanks for hopping by! I am very flattered to have been asked to be a guest on this edition of the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop!

The theme for this  week is to showcase the Autumn holiday catalogue designer series papers in ways that feature them in year long projects.  The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is one of my favourites in the holiday catalogue. Not only does it have beautiful autumn imagery but the reverse side of the papers has lovely watercolour and graphic designs.

My card and 3D project for today's  Stamping Sunday  blog hop uses one of the watercolor style pages as the feature background. I combined the Painted Autumn designer series paper with the Lemon Zest stamp and punch bundle to make this summery citrus card and treat bag duo, perfect for some citrus candies or a fragrant lemon-lime candle.

Both the card and the treat bag have clear heat embossed lemon-lime twist limes and feature the glitter enamel dots for extra shimmer. The lemon limes punch out perfectly with the 1 3/4" circle punch.  You may also spot another holiday catalogue goodie on this card. the edge of the DSP was cut using one of the NEW card front builder dies.

The treat bag was made using the gift bag punch board and a 4" x 10" piece of DSP. The "for you" was die cut using one of the mini treat bag thinlits dies and is cut out of another of the watercolour Painter Autumn DSP sheets.

festive theme challengeWhen I first realized the theme for this week I panicked a little.  "Festive" to me brings forth images of a traditional red, green, and white Christmas. I had not ordered any traditional Christmas products this year. I opted for the more modern and musical holiday papers. How was I going to come up with a "festive" card??  It  then occurred to me that I could make my own traditional Designer Series Paper and embellishments using my sponge brayers and Stampin' Blends (NEW product alert! Available to customers November 1st!)

I used garden green ink and a brayer to colour the Merry Music DSP . Then I used my dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin Blend marker to turn white pearl embellishments into red berries and change the white trimmed gold ribbon to cherry cobbler trimmed ribbon!

The wreath is the 2 layer flower from Stampin' Up!'s Painted Harvest set. The sentiment and decorative banner are from the Christmas Pines stamp set. They are both heat embossed (one in gold and one in white).

After I had come up with design for this card it was clarified that "festive" didn't have to be Christmas-y (so don't panic if you don't have anything holiday themed for this challenge- but you might want to order some holiday products because you're cutting it pretty close with getting your holiday cards done -haha!). I really liked this card though so I decided to use it for my design team entry anyway.

This festive theme card measures 4.25" x 4.25" and fits in a standard envelope.
