Christmas Cheer – Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #005

My Christmas Cheer card is part of this week’s inspire.create.  sketch challenge:

inspire. create challenge #005

With the holiday’s approaching I knew I wanted to make a Christmas card and opted to go with non-traditional colours. I really wanted to play with my Stampin Blends markers so I chose colours based on those and opted for Pink Pirouette and Crumb Cake.

I used the Merry Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cafe Framelits for the cup and sentiments and coloured the cup and lid in with the Stampin Blend alcohol Markers. “A CUP OF” and “CHEER” are silver heat embossed.

The card  is 4.25″ x 4.25″ and opens in the middle. The lid of the cup is positioned so that it helps hold the card closed as the tip of the silver metallic snowflake tucks underneath. The inside sentiment is from the Every Good Wish stamp set.

Happy First Birthday – Inspire. Create. Stamping Challenge #004

This week’s inspire. create. challenge #004 is a colour challenge. My Happy First Birthday card was inspired by my youngest niece. Her birthday was this week and I wanted a bright and celebratory card.

For this Happy First Birthday card I used an aqua painter to flick ink on to my front layer then added more depth using the soft sky ribbon, flirty flamingo striped baker’s twine, the starburst punch, leaf punch, stitched shape framelits, and Large Numbers framelits. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the In The City hostess exclusive stamp set.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop – Summery Citrus

Stamping Sunday blog hop

Hi! Thanks for hopping by! I am very flattered to have been asked to be a guest on this edition of the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop!

The theme for this  week is to showcase the Autumn holiday catalogue designer series papers in ways that feature them in year long projects.  The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is one of my favourites in the holiday catalogue. Not only does it have beautiful autumn imagery but the reverse side of the papers has lovely watercolour and graphic designs.

My card and 3D project for today’s  Stamping Sunday  blog hop uses one of the watercolor style pages as the feature background. I combined the Painted Autumn designer series paper with the Lemon Zest stamp and punch bundle to make this summery citrus card and treat bag duo, perfect for some citrus candies or a fragrant lemon-lime candle.

Both the card and the treat bag have clear heat embossed lemon-lime twist limes and feature the glitter enamel dots for extra shimmer. The lemon limes punch out perfectly with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  You may also spot another holiday catalogue goodie on this card. the edge of the DSP was cut using one of the NEW card front builder dies.

The treat bag was made using the gift bag punch board and a 4″ x 10″ piece of DSP. The “for you” was die cut using one of the mini treat bag thinlits dies and is cut out of another of the watercolour Painter Autumn DSP sheets.

I hope this summery citrus duo inspires you to think of more than just Fall projects when you see the Painted Autumn DSP. Be sure to keep hopping and check out the other Stamping Sunday bloggers below!

Inspire.Create.Challenge #003 – Festive Theme

festive theme challengeWhen I first realized the theme for this week I panicked a little.  “Festive” to me brings forth images of a traditional red, green, and white Christmas. I had not ordered any traditional Christmas products this year. I opted for the more modern and musical holiday papers. How was I going to come up with a “festive” card??  It  then occurred to me that I could make my own traditional Designer Series Paper and embellishments using my sponge brayers and Stampin’ Blends (NEW product alert! Available to customers November 1st!)

I used garden green ink and a brayer to colour the Merry Music DSP . Then I used my dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin Blend marker to turn white pearl embellishments into red berries and change the white trimmed gold ribbon to cherry cobbler trimmed ribbon!

The wreath is the 2 layer flower from Stampin’ Up!’s Painted Harvest set. The sentiment and decorative banner are from the Christmas Pines stamp set. They are both heat embossed (one in gold and one in white).

After I had come up with design for this card it was clarified that “festive” didn’t have to be Christmas-y (so don’t panic if you don’t have anything holiday themed for this challenge- but you might want to order some holiday products because you’re cutting it pretty close with getting your holiday cards done -haha!). I really liked this card though so I decided to use it for my design team entry anyway.

This festive theme card measures 4.25″ x 4.25″ and fits in a standard envelope.

Thankful for You – Stampin’ Up! Handmade Card

Today’s Thankful for You handmade card is one of the cards I taught in my September card club. I think it was by far the favourite of the 3 we did. This card I cased from a Japanese Demonstrator. Her Instagram is fabulous and you should definitely check her out (@leafleaf_cards). I ended up sending this card to a good friend in Vancouver.

This card features the Painted Harvest Stamp set and looks great in variety of colours, so you can make it with whatever colours of ink and cardstock you have on hand. For the background stamping and the inside of the flower I used Sahara Sand. The background stamp is stamped off once before each time stamping on the paper. The flowers and cardstock are Wisteria Wonder. The background layer of the flower is also stamped off once. The middle sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso.

When I was planning to do this card I relazied my linen thread had dissapeared and was no where to be found. I almost panicked then realized I could cut my burlap trim apart and get a simliar effect. Crisis averted!! Although, I would still love to know where my linen thread ended up. It was one of many freebies I got at Onstage Local (Stampin’ Up!’s semi-annual conference).

This Thankful for You card is also a Big Shot less card!

Pink Blog Hop!

pink blog hop

Thanks for hopping along to my blog! This blog hop is in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month. My card for the Pink Blog Hop was inspired by a cupcake topper order I received for a Baby Shower. The request was for pink, gold and forest creatures.  I thought the pink and gold were the perfect fit for today’s Pink Blog Hop!  Babies and boobs….what goes together better! As a mom of a two year old who is still breastfeeding, Breast Cancer awareness is a big deal. My grandmother had Breast Cancer and I know other women for whom this has been a battle as well. How cool is it that we are able to shed light on this important issue through crafting!

My Pink Blog Hop card features the Bundle of Love Designer Series Paper, the Foxy Friends and Special Celebrations stamp sets and the Woodland Embossing folder. I must say that I had not ordered this Designer Series Paper before I received the special request and now that I have it I love it! The gold foil inlay is beautiful!

To make this card I heat embossed the fox using gold embossing powder on Very Vanilla thick cardstock then watercoloured using Blushing Bride ink and an aqua-painter and fussy cut it out using paper snips.. It is popped up using stampin’ dimensionals.

The Bundle of Love DSP is die-cut using Stampin’ Up!’s Stitched Shape Framelits

The Welcome Baby sentiment is cut out using the Classic Label punch and affixed with mini stampin’ demensionals

For additional gold accents I added the 1/8″ gold ribbon and the gold foil snowflakes. The snowflakes I trimmed into 2 quarter-ish pieces.

Here is the finished card:

Spooky Cat – Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #002 – Stampin’ Up! Handmade Card

Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #002

Welcome to another Inspire.Create Challenge! This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge. You can find the sketch below. My design team card for this challenge was inspired by my desire to play with the Spooky Cat stamp set and show off the Halloween Designer Series Paper. The sketch back ground reminded me of a z-fold card and I was happy that I was able to bring the my 3D vision of the sketch to life. Here is the sketch for this week’s Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #002:

When I made this card I had actually only planned to come down to my craft room to pick out the paper and end up playing around and finishing the whole thing before going to bed. The fun thing about this bundle is that the cat punch and cat stamp not only co-ordinate with each other but also with the designer series paper!

I stamped on the designer series paper with versamark ink and embossed with copper embossing powder. I used the cat punch to cut out one of the embossed cats as well as punch out a cat in the vellum. I love how the copper embossing shines through the cat shaped hole in the vellum. I used the copper and black metallic threads, black rhinestones and vintage lace trim to finish off the embellishments on this card.

Here is my finished Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #002 Spooky Cat card:

Thirteenth Day of Christmas – Window Box Advent Calendar

Getting started on the 3rd row with the thirteenth day of Christmas window box. It features the old olive & white baker’s twine and gold metallic thread. The Merry Music Designer Series Paper was cut using another one of the dies from the window box thinlits. To be honest this is not one of my favourite boxes, but it seems to be fitting in quite nicely on the “tree”. Leaving it be has been a good exercise in accepting that not everything has to be perfect to be beneficial!
