Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #001

Welcome to the first Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge! I feel privileged to have been chosen for the design team among some very talented demonstrators!  I hope our projects inspire you to get creating and I look forward to seeing all of YOUR projects!

The Inspire.Create. Stamping Challenge #001  is a colour challenge. You are to use Basic Grey, Calypso Coral and Whisper White as the colours for your creation.

inspire.create challenge

When I first found out what the colours for today’s challenge were I immediately thought of a house, which was perfect because I have several friends who have moved recently and I was needing to create cards for them!

For my design I used Basic Grey as the base of my card and whisper white embossed with the Brick Wall embossing folder as the top layer. Using basic grey ink and an aqua painter I watercoloured in the the “grout”.

The inside “wall” and peekaboo background layer use the Calypso Coral Ombre sheet from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper.

This card features the Home Life stamp and framelit bundle. For the “Congratulations!” sentiment you can stamp in Calypso Coral (on shimmery white cardstock) and then clear heat emboss over top. After heat embossing, watercolour the background in Basic Grey and allow to dry prior to using the banner thinlit to die cut with the Big Shot.

The window frame (from the Hearth & Home thinlits) is raised using adhesive strips to give a 3D effect. I heat embossed “on your new home” using versamark and whisper white embossing powder.

The calyso coral ombre ribbon, pearl basics and natural wood elements provide the finishing touches for this card. I coloured the white side of the wood flower using a the Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write marker.

The black you can see peeking out underneath the banner is part of the lamp from the bookcase builder stamp set, there are also some bottles hiding back there sitting on the window sill. You can’t see them looking at the card from straight on, only if you take a peek inside the window from above.

Eleventh Day Of Christmas – Window Box Advent Calendar

The eleventh day of Christmas window box features some vellum die cut snowflakes made using the Seasonal Layers dies, along with the mini gold sequin trim. I just love the black and white plaid pattern on this designer series paper!

The snowflakes were cut from vellum using the Colourful Seasons thinlits and the mini gold sequin trim gives it some extra shimmer.

Monogrammed Thanksgiving Silverware Pocket

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I wanted to get started on some DIY projects for Thanksgiving Dinner. We are hosting again this year and seem to have more people attending as each year passes. I think this year we will probably have 15 adults and 2 babes. I put together these Monogrammed Thanksgiving Silverware Pockets (or as we say “cutlery” pockets) to place on the table at Thanksgiving Dinner. Each family member will have their own pocket with their first initial.

The first step in making these was to put together the bags using Stampin’ Up!’s Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and Mini Treat Bag thinlit dies. After they were assembled I used the two largest ovals from the Stitched shape framelit dies to cut out the center pieces. The largest oval is very vanilla cardstock and the smaller oval is the wood textures designer series paper.

I used the Large Letters framelits and the coordinating Letters for You stamp set to stamp and die cut the monograms. The letters are stamped with versamark and heat embossed with copper embossing powder.

It is difficult to see in the picture but there is copper metallic thread in addtion to the burlap ribbon behind the ovals.

The leaves are my favourite part of these monogrammed Thanksgiving silverware pockets. I finally played around with the baby wipe technique. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this technique, you sprinkle around several drops of various colours of reinker on a baby wipe (or wet nap) and then use that as your ink pad to ink your stamp. Re-inking your stamp in different spots on the baby wipe each time. No two stamped images are exactly alike and the colours blend wonderfully! If your wipe is folded or creased this will show up in your inked image. This may or may not be beneficial depending on the look you are going for. Here is a picture of some of the leaves  after stamping. I used the large solid leaf stamp from the Colorful Seasons bundle and stamped on very vanilla cardstock.

For this project I opted to use both stamps in the 2 step stamping set and stamp the “veins” of the leaves in Early Espresso. I stamped off once first to make the veins a little lighter.

I used the large leaf framelit to cut the leaves out and then used the large detailed leaf framelit to cut a leaf out of copper metallic foil. Each pocket got two stamped leaves and one copper leaf. Here is the finished Monogrammed Thanksgiving Silverware Pocket:

Ninth Day of Christmas – Window Box Advent Calendar

Is anyone else getting impatient for this project to be done?? Haha! I have been working on several at a time and I’m trying to hold back and not post them all at once. I’m getting excited to see how this all comes together at the end. I thought about building it and then finishing the individual boxes afterwards, but then I realized that it would be difficult to photograph all the boxes that way. So…. Here is my ninth day of Christmas window box. I kept this one simple and used the new everyday label punch, vellum and the metal rimmed pearls.

Welcome – Stampin’ Up! Handmade Card

Today’s handmade card was inspired by my little Inklusive Inspiration Team. It is a welcome card to be sent to a new team member (I may be little behind on getting this in mail).  I used Stampin’ Up!’s Home Life bundle (stamps and framelits). This set is quite fun and appropriate for a variety of occasions. I have already used it for one card, for a special project that will get posted later and  I plan to use it to make a new home card in the near future.

I used a new technique I learned at a tips & technique team meeting to rouche the ribbon underneath the banner (hint: it involves tear & tape). This mirrored the effect of the ruffled embossing folder.

Seventh Day of Christmas – Window Box Advent Calendar

My seventh day of Christmas window box features the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and mini gold sequin trim.  It is a lighter design than some of the previous boxes. I think this will bring some balance to the finished project.

You guys…. it is getting tougher to come up with combos for these boxes and I still have 21 days to go! I should have ordered the foil snowflakes and Year of Cheer embellishments. They would have gone perfectly with this project! Let’s see if I’m able to pull this off! 😉

Eighth Day of Christmas -Window Box Advent Calendar

The eighth day of Christmas window box features Stampin’ Up!’s 7/8″ striped ribbon, metallic foil doilies and Bow Builder punch. This was my first play with the bow builder punch. It made it incredibly easy to make this beautiful paper bow using only paper and mini glue dots! I will definitely be adding this to my rotation for future papercrafting projects. As this will be an outer box in the final design, I also used the stitched shape squares to decorate three of the window box sides.

Sixth Day of Christmas – Window Box Advent Calendar

Getting back to my 28 Days of Christmas Blog Series today. For the sixth day of Christmas window box I used the dazzling diamonds glitter paper and the tree thinlits from the Card Front Builder dies. The Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper was punched out using the starburst punch. I added the silver ribbon and mini black sequin trim for extra shimmer.

Anything But The Holidays Blog Hop

Thanks for hopping along to my blog! As you likely know by now, today’s blog hop was designed to show off products in Stampin Up’s new Holiday Catalogue in non-holiday ways, for anything but the holidays. Even though this is a holiday catalogue you can use the products all year long!

For my project, I opted to make a card for my man. He does a lot for our family and is incredibly supportive of my business and I often forget to recognize him for that.

Stampin’ Up!’s Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper has some great “masculine” prints so I used that as a starting point for designing this Anything but the Holidays card.

I also used the Merry Cafe stamp set, the jute twine and the boxwood wreaths, which are all, also, featured in the new Holiday catalogue.

Tip: The heart thinlit from the Wood Crate thinlit dies (annual catalogue) does a good job of cutting out the heart in the Merry Cafe set!
